All of June, as per a centuries-old tradition, Lisbon is celebrating its Patron Saint, St. António. As tradition dictates, the hills of Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods (Alfama, Bica, Bairro Alto, Castelo, and Mouraria, among others) will be flowing with happy locals, grilled sardines, caldo verde kale soup, bread with sausage, beer, red wine, Pimba and other music, and live entertainment. Fun for the whole family. Day and night. A citywide month-long party and feast to rival those of Carnival, Mardi Gras and even Burning Man.
If you’re already in town, its going to be hard to miss.
But you can see what’s cooking here and here.
And here’s just a taste of the madness.
