The bifana is a typical Portuguese sandwich that you can find in every cafeteria or pastry shop on the block. They’re the traditional Portuguese take on fast food: pork on a roll with do-it-yourself mayo and mustard on the side (if you’re lucky). But there are bifanas and there are bifanas, and this one is the latter. No one cooks these pork steaks better than the “king of bifanas,” as the owner of this small bar in Praça do Chile likes to be called. Not sure what makes a bifana THE bifana? Watch our video here.
