We were first enticed to this traditional Portuguese restaurant by the curb appeal, then by the menu hanging outside, and then by the warm and friendly ambiance emanating from inside. We sat down expecting a simple, straightforward meal of some of our favorite go-to dishes, but what ended up happening was a borderline sexual experience with one of the house specialties: a naco de lombo na pedra (beef sirloin steak on a hot stone).

But I’m getting ahead of myself. The gambas a guilho following the couvert of presunto had our palettes primed, particularly coupled with glass of Duas Quintas tinto (yes, we splurged). We knew we had to pace ourselves for the main event, so unfortunately we didn’t dive into the plate of mini-samosas almost definitely made on-site and served as an optional couvert along with cheese, bread, and olives. It’s definitely on my list for next time we return, which I hope will be soon.

About the naco-gasm(s). This buttery, garlic-y, mouthwatering main dish was EVERYTHING. Its incredible freshness and quality mixed with perfect presentation and flavor had us at hello. Was it the wine? Anyway, if you’re a carnivore with a penchant for sizzling rare beef, you’ll have found your go-to spot for shameless lombo-tingling debauchery.

And I didn’t even mention the perfectly prepared drunken pears for dessert. Suffice it to say, my mojo will never be the same.
