Lisbon has mastered the neighborhood haunt, but Casa dos Pecados (House of Sins) elevates the game, offering a unique blend of high-end cocktail artistry and Portuguese culinary comfort. The atmosphere is welcoming and inventive — old radios, cameras, and other nostalgic knick-knacks serve as the backdrop for the bar, successfully pulling off a cozy, chill, and utterly inviting vibe. This is the rare spot that confidently solves one of our biggest dining dilemmas, catering equally well to vegan, vegetarian, and carnivorous diets while offering exceptional cocktails and an extensive wine selection.
The bar scene is a draw in itself, thanks to a vibrant, lively atmosphere and mixologists who work magic. The cocktails were on point, and we don’t say that lightly (old fashioneds and Negronis receive particular, regular devotion at our table). Service is flawless, anchored by a helpful and attentive staff.
The main courses showcase the kitchen’s confidence and range. The traditional dishes are masterful, including tender pork cheeks, melt-in-your-mouth cod, and the beautifully cooked octopus, while the modern, plant-based options are equally compelling — we highly recommend the flavorful mushroom risotto (ask them to hold the parmesan if you’re vegan, they will).
Casa dos Pecados is one of those places where you wander in once and find yourself returning. For its quality, unique setting, and phenomenal service, the prices are extremely reasonable. It delivered on our intensely specific criteria and did so above all odds.
