Ramiro is Lisbon’s worst-kept secret. The line still snakes down the street like a ritual punishment for people who want to try the seafood that everyone on TripAdvisor is raving about. Yes, Ramiro’s has been on every must-eat list since before Lisbon was cool, before the rent exploded, and before half the room started ordering in English, and somehow, miraculously, it still delivers.
This is where you come to drop serious money on lobster, oysters, crab, percebes, and those outrageously large Algarve prawns that arrive looking like they could fight back. The hype is loud, but it’s justified. Pro tip: If your wallet flinches, the clams are a safe and reasonably priced bet and the “obligatory” post-seafood prego will only set you back about eight bucks.
Dessert is non-negotiable — spend a few more euros on a baba de camelo, accept your fate, and stop pretending you’re checking the price. If you didn’t think to reserve a table, you can expect to visit the bar next door for tactical cocktails while you wait. And yes, Bourdain went here because of course he did. An institution, still standing, still smug about it.
