And while 22 people have recovered, the number of cases continues rapidly growing: from 2,060 confirmed cases reported Monday, we’re now at 2,362, according to Direcção-Geral da Saúde. The number of suspected cases, meanwhile also continues rising without any slowdown, reaching a total of 15,474.

At the same time, it’s unclear whether the number of confirmed cases is an accurate representation of the number of people actually infected in Portugal, as local health experts have said there’s not enough testing being done.

For perspective, around 1,800 people are currently awaiting laboratory results while 11,482 are under close monitoring by authorities, according to DGS.

On the other hand, of the 2,362 confirmed cases, most appear to be mild enough for the person to recover at home: only 203 people are hospitalized, although out of those, 48 are in intensive care.

We’ll have to wait and see, but there’s every indication that we’re still far from reaching the worst of it Portugal. Be safe, and keep others safe too.
