MULTIMEDIA SHOW | Gabriel Ferrandini, Maria Reis, and André Cepeda at ZDB | Chiado | 6€ @ Galeria Zé dos Bois | Lisboa | Lisboa | Portugal

What happens when a singer, an improvisational percussionist, and a smoke machine operator/video projection artist come together?
Well, you get Gabriel Ferrandini, Maria Reis, and André Cepeda, that’s what.
Duh.
This trio formed in 2018, and this year they have an album, the first by new-comer label Trás-os-Montes Records. They’ve been touring the land with said album, smoke machine and all, and Lisbon is their next stop.
This Monday night they’re gonna be keeping things weird until 2am at ZDB.

ENTRY: 6€
Tickets at ZDB or Flur Discos and Tabacaria Martins, Monday to Saturday, 10h to 14h.

MINI MUSIC FESTIVAL | Villa Omnichord | Leiria | 10€ @ Villa Portela | Leiria | Leiria | Portugal

Festival a Porta opens its doors to Portugal this weekend, and anyone who knows anything knows that.
But, did you know that there is a festival inside the Festival a Porta?
Yep.
It’s called Villa Omnichord (which is a very cool name), and it’s on the eve of June 20th. In the organizers’ words, “Villa Omnichord is a celebration of a great family, is a feast for Leiria, and is the occupation of one of the most incredible places of our city.”
It’s a little out of town, but definitely some worthy (local and other) names in the line-up.
And a dope venue.

Here’s the festvial within a festival’s program (with links to artists):
16h00: Portas (doors).
17h00: Few Fingers
17h45: Obaa sima
18h30: Jerónimo
19h15: Whales com elementos de First Breath After Coma.
21h30: La Baq com elementos de First Breath After Coma.
22h30: Surma + Joana Guerra + João Hasselberg.

ENTRY: 10€.
Tickets at Praça Cafée or here.

And check out what Surma, one of the main headliners, tells Atlas here.

Here’s a bite-sized preview of the not so distant sounds.

Jun 22 @ 15:00 – 18:00
to July 27 | STREET MUSIC | Gypsy Jazz Jam Get Together | Areeiro | FREE @ Jardim Fernando Pessa | Lisboa | Lisboa | Portugal

Gypsy jazz is the type of thing that works well both indoors and out. With that in mind, as Lisbon gets warmer, local gypsy jazz aficionado Nuno Marinho and friends invite you to “bring your guitars, violins, and any other instruments you like, and hang out, have a drink, share thoughts, experiences or goals. Everyone is invited. Everyone is welcome.”
Head over to Jardim Fernando Pessa, every Saturday between 15h-18h, and bob your head to some gypsy jazz as you welcome summer.

Imagine this, but under the sun.

Jun 23 @ 05:00 – 09:30
to Sept 29 | MUSIC FESTIVAL | Somersby Out Jazz 2019 | Lisbon | FREE @ VARIOUS LOCATIONS | Lisbon | Lisbon | Portugal

The 13th edition of Somersby Out Jazz is back in Lisbon, which means you have the option of spending any given Sunday afternoon trough the end of September enjoying jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, rock, DJs, drinks, dancing, friends, and fresh air in some of the most beautiful gardens of the capital.
Free of charge.
Here’s what José Filipe Rebelo Pinto, founder of Somersby Out Jazz, says:
“Lisbon is trendy and still has a lot to offer. There are many green spaces scattered throughout the city with great potential, which have the capacity to receive an event of this size and that only benefit in being more dynamic. The aim of the Somersby Out Jazz is precisely to provide a diversified musical experience for Portuguese and foreigners while promoting the gardens in which it is held and encouraging their (re-)visitation.”

The Belém Tower Garden is the first outdoor venue to receive the 2019 edition, followed by:
Jardim do Campo Grande in June;
Jardim da Estrela in July;
Ribeira das Naus in August,
and Bela Vista Park in September.

In Graça, what was once the first Portuguese cinema to project movies with sound is now a supermarket, but the founders of Camones Cinebar have been bringing back that creative spirit to the neighborhood. Sep 22 @ 05:00 – 09:30
to Sept 29 | MUSIC FESTIVAL | Somersby Out Jazz 2019 | Lisbon | FREE @ VARIOUS LOCATIONS | Lisbon | Lisbon | Portugal

Jardim do Campo Grande in June;
Jardim da Estrela in July;
Ribeira das Naus in August,
and Bela Vista Park in September.
