Demand for Golden Visas in Asia Grows as New Law Looms

The end of golden visas in Lisbon, Porto, and along the coast is set to come into effect in January 2022, and has increased the demand for them in Asia, according to dnoticias.pt. Investors are mainly focused on real estate, investment funds, and transferring capital to Portuguese accounts, Un I Wong of MdME Lawyers told the publication.

The new law will bring a number of changes to golden visas in Portugal, which have been popular with Asian investors for a number of years. The change was originally meant to happen this year but was pushed back in December 2020.
