EMEL Pay-to-Park Resumes in Lisbon

Paid parking is back, don't be caught out!

As of April 14, the normal tariffs charged by EMEL (Empresa Municipal de Mobilidade e Estacionamento de Lisboa) for parking on public roads resumed in Lisbon, ECO reports. There had been a suspension of parking charges since January 25th, but as life returns to the city, so too do the traffic wardens.

That said, Serviço Nacional de Saúde (national health service) staff fighting COVID will continue to get free parking, with the need to submit a request.

The full proposal of changes from Câmara Municipal de Lisboa can be read here.
