Are you a tourist?
No, seriously.
Are rent and petty theft going up because of you?
When you walk around Lisbon and see the increasing “Tourists F.ck Off” graffiti and stickers, do you ask yourself, “Do they mean me?”
Or maybe you even utter that same sentiment from time to time in an attempt to, you know, blend in?
After all, tourism is a state of mind…

Anyway, Padrão dos Descobrimentos invites you to ask these and other tough questions in their new show… inside popular tourist destination Belém.
Here’s what they say:
“What is a tourist? Can we all be tourists? Is a tourist always a tourist? What was tourism like in the time of our grandparents? Can we be tourists in the cities we live in?
The exhibition invites us to look at tourists and their activities, but also to migrants and locals, paying special attention to our daily or occasional encounters, showing that we all can learn from one another. For that, we need only to see each other as inhabitants of the same world, although we look at it through different perspectives and with different expectations.”
