to Sept 17 | ART EXHIBIT | David Oliveira’s “Life is on the Line” | Amoreiras | FREE
Reservatório da Mãe d'Água das Amoreiras
Praça das Amoreiras 10, 1250-020 Lisboa
Life is on the Line, is an expression that means between life and death: therefore the exhibition is about the danger that life on Earth faces, and David Oliveira uses his signature wire lines to illustrate “a snapshot of a paused movement” before it all goes to hell. This guy happens to be one of our favorite artists from Lisbon, so go see why for yourself, or read our interview with him here.
The beauty of his work is that each piece evokes a memory through the use of tulle to show the movement of where the sculpture has been and hinting at where it will go next using this fluidity and freedom of color.
According to the artist, “When I was proposed to do this exhibition, the Reservoir of the Mãe d’Água das Amoreiras was my first choice, because the presence of water is crucial in a discourse on life, especially when the sculptures are transparent, and space becomes integral to them.”
