Chlorophyll is a green pigment present in all green plants and in cyanobacteria, which is responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis. “Clorofila” is the Portuguese word for chlorophyll.
However, Clorofila is also the solo exhibit by Portuguese artist Maria Castel-Branco. Pura Cal is hosting its inauguration this coming Tuesday, at 15h. And here’s what Maria says about it:
“A vast sea of virgin forest.
The profusion of greens in my pupils is explained by the lengths of violet, blue and red light absorbed by each of the leaves that I admire almost without breathing.
I often feel my heart embody the rhythm of emotions. This is especially strong in tones.
Who will have created so many limbos and their margins, their cutouts so varied? Was it me?”
