BOOK PRESENTATION | Ursula K. Le Guin: ‘The Day before the Revolution and other short stories’ | FREE
July 9 @ 19:00 - 21:00FREE
Not all U.S.-ians are like Trump. For example, Ursula K. Le Guin (1929-2018) was a U.S.-born science fiction writer deeply influenced by feminism, Taoism, anarchism, and Europe. One of her more famous stories — The day before the revolution — was published in 1974, the year of the Portuguese revolution. This Friday night, low-key Portuguese cultural hub Casa da Achada invites you to get familiar with Ursula’s stuff with the presentation of her book The day before the revolution and other short stories.
“Her novels and short stories are not a fanciful escape from the reality we live in, but rather the certainty that this is not the only one possible and, above all, is not immutable. Her writing has gone beyond the boundaries and limitations of science fiction and has become pure literature.
Her timeless work invites us to reflect on fundamental themes and question preconceived ideas.”
*You’ll need some Portuguese for this one.
