Sara Benoliel was born in the Amazon (Borba, Brazil) on April 12, 1898. At seven years old she contracted polio. She decided to do medicine. She then went on to become a Portuguese national, a renowned physician, and the first pediatrician in the country. She played a key role in the history of Portugal’s healthcare, and, on her 120th birthday, the National Center for Culture wants to show some respect.
