Here’s what hosts Gulbenkian say about this one:
“Astor Piazzolla was the biggest name in tango revival, having created a new style that took in elements of jazz and classical music. Through his bandoneon, the traditionally inspired tango asserted itself as a more sophisticated form of musical expression. The concerto for bandoneon and orchestra Aconcagua was premiered in 1981, in Washington, with Piazzolla as soloist. At Gulbenkian Music, this challenge will now be passed on to Lysandre Donoso, one of the most requested bandoneonists in Europe.
Here’s some Astor to help make up your mind.
