You might need a ride down to Portimão for this one, but FIMA 2019 (the Algarve International Music Festival) is a good reason to get out of town and avoid the madness that comes with celebrating 45 years of revolution.
For their 36th edition, they welcome Jordi Savall & Hespèrion XXI, an ensemble as old as the revolution itself, with their newest project “A Viola Celta” (“the Celtic Viola”).
Jordi describes it as “a dialogue between Man and Nature, between the Old and the New World.”
The organizers add:
“The repertoire is a mix of traditional Irish and Scottish songs. Although Savall and the Hespèrion XXI have consolidated their worldwide reputation as interpreters of Baroque music, this is yet another of their highly successful forays into ‘ethnic’ music, in a perfect balance between tradition and modernity!”
Here’s Jordi playing the Celtic viola.
