Luís Vicente is a Lisbon-based trumpeter who gets around. For example, he has already played dozens of venues across Europe and North America, and here is a list, from his website, of people he has performed with over the years: Carlos Zingaro, Wilbert De Joode, Akira Sakata, Johannes Bauer, William Parker, Hamid Drake, Michael Moore, Roger Turner, Mars Williams, Jorrit Dijkstra, Jasper Stadhouders, Mary Oliver, Paal Nilsen Love, Joost Buis, Tobias Delius, Wolter Wierbos, Frank Gratkowski, Mark Sanders, Olie Brice, Marco Franco, Mette Rasmussen, John Dikeman, Alexander Hawkins, Ziv Taubenfeld, Roberto Negro, John Butcher, João Lobo, Hugo Antunes, Valentin Ceccaldi, Seppe Gebruers, Onno Govaert, and Théo Ceccaldi.
Luís plays his own tunes, solo and as a member of various trios and quartets, and he does so often. For example, here is a list of ensembles Luís has been a part of over the years: Vicente-Gebruers-Govaert; Vicente-Trila; Chamber 4; Vicente-Brice-Sanders; Corda Bamba; Twenty One 4tet; Frame Trio; Clocks and Clouds; Deux Maisons; In Layers; Vicente-Marjamaki; Ziv Taubenfeld’s Full Sun; Echoes of South Africa; Fail Better!; and Jasper Stadhouders’ International Improv Ensemble.
Yeah, we know — Luís gets around… Anyway, this Sunday, Luís’ is back in Lisbon and he, along with his latest ensemble — simply the ‘Luís Vicente 4tet’ — wants to play for you.
