Born in Cape Verde in 1970, Rolando Semedo started playing saxophone at the age of 13. He then picked up the guitar and bass. He moved to Lisbon at the age of 18 and, since then, has collaborated with countless local Cape Verdean and other musicians, eventually becoming a producer, but continuing to play. Rolando’s first solo album, Águ, was recorded in one take, with just voice and guitar. It is now being presented in a quartet format, including at BOTA this Friday night.
