CONCERTS | Amália: The Voice Greater Than Fado | Belém | 10-23€
November 26, 2020 @ 19:00 - 20:00
One event on November 27, 2020 at 19:00
Here’s what João Botelho says about the queen of fado Amália Rodrigues (whose centenary is being celebrated all throughout Portugal in this strange year) about the two concerts in her honor this Thanksgiving:
“Amália: «high blow, hairy arm, hair on the wind, fire in the eye, was what was said of the mythical Severa. I was nothing like that! » And it never was. «Express the National Soul, me? I only express my Soul.»
From the narrow streets to the big stages to seduce the whole world. Black and eyes closed, so that the Voice could be heard. Pure emotion. Traditional fados, Iberian singer, mezzo-soprano and dramatic actress. Great poets. Herself, Homem de Mello, Mourão Ferreira, Alegre, O’Neill, Camões. And the children she left! Some of them will be here today to extend “the universality of their cry and their smile.” The CCB invited me to organize the lights and shadows for this show. I couldn’t say no.”*
TICKETS*: 10-23€, here.
*Following the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 217-A / 2020, of 8 November, which, in this period determines the closure of cultural facilities at 10:30 pm and the curfew, it was necessary to bring the show time up to 7:00 pm. Purchased tickets remain valid.
