DANCE PERFORMANCES | Teresa Vittucci: Hate Me, Tender + Euripides Laskaridis: Relic | 12-30€

May 20, 2021 @ 19:00 - May 21, 2021 @ 21:00

€12 – €30

This Thursday and Friday nights, the CCB and the Museu de Marinha want to give you a double-dose of weird, dance-style.

Dose 1:

‘A solo for future feminism’ is the subtitle of HATE ME, TENDER, the latest work by Swiss choreographer and dancer Teresa Vittucci. The CCB describes it as follows:
“An investigation into hate and feminism. In this solo, she examines one of the most culturally important female figures, the Virgin Mary. With mild violence, Vittucci unveils the strange potential of a figure who is culturally seen as the epitome of purity, innocence, and perfection, an icon of compassionate women and a bereaved mother…”

Dose 2:

Greek director and performer Euripides Laskaridis‘ website says that he “uses notions of ridicule and transformation to explore the perseverance of humankind in the face of the unknown.”
The CCB says this about his new show Relic, which is right after Teresa’s show:
“In a makeshift room, decorated in a haphazard DIY fashion, a performer puts his notably awkwardly shaped body under the magnifying glass. Magic comes from the mundane and references to cabaret, vaudeville, and slapstick abound… By testing the limits of our acceptance of the incongruous and unfamiliar, performer and audience alike will experience a moment of transcendence.”
