DINNER AND CONCERT | Valentine’s Day at Casa do Alentejo | Restauradores | 28€

February 14, 2019 @ 19:15 - 23:59

Here’s a lovely bit of history for ya, courtesy of the internet:
“From the 13th to the 15th of February, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. The men sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slain.
The Roman romantics were drunk and naked. Young women would actually line up for the men to hit them, because they believed this would make them fertile.
The brutal fete included a matchmaking lottery, in which young men drew the names of women from a jar…
Emperor Claudius II executed two men — both named Valentine — on February 14th of different years in the 3rd century A.D. Their martyrdom was honored by the Catholic Church with the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day.”

Romantic, no?

Times may have changed, but St. Valentine’s Day remains a special day for many. And this coming holiday, Casa do Alentejo invites you to “Dia dos Namorados” — a slightly more tame but still special evening.

Here’s what they say:
“In a romantic atmosphere, we will celebrate with guided tours of this beautiful historic building (19h15 and 20h).
Dinner in the noble hall begins at 20h15, with a special menu created for this day.
At the end of the night, there will be music by the “Happy Hour Band,” taking us on a journey through the ’80s and ’90s.
Come and celebrate love in a unique space in the heart of Lisbon.”

*28€ per person (includes everything except beverages).

**Mandatory reservations through geral@storic.pt.

***Enjoy responsibly (as in, don’t kill your dog, or Valentine, and try not to whip your significant other unless they ask, of course, in which case who are we to judge).

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
