to Mar 17 | BALLET | Don Quixote | Parque das Nações | 9-19€
Note: Fri and Sat shows are at 21h, Sat at 18h30, and Sun at 16h.
Teatro Camões is a very dependable place for modern dance, and in large part, it’s because the people who come to perform here are rooted in tradition. Marius Petipa’s ballet Don Quixote, based on Cervantes’ great novel, premiered in 1869 at the Bolshoi in Moscow. It was then reinterpreted by Alexander Gorski in 1900, and 90 years later, Eric Volodine took a stab, premiering his version right here with Companhia Nacional de Bailado. Tickets are 9 to 19€ here.
From the organizers:
Eric Volodine – second choreography second • Alexander Gorski • Ludwig Minkus – Music • Inspired by Marius Petipa and Miguel de Cervantes • Alexandre Vassiliev – set design and costumes • Richard Caswell – Light design
Interpreted by the Artists of the National Ballet Company (Companhia Nacional de Bailado)
Costumes created in CNB’s atelier
