What’s better than getting a bunch of musicians together to bang out some wonderful tunes?
Why, getting a bunch of musicians together to bang out some wonderful tunes for a good cause, of course.
Except for Live Aid, but that goes without saying.
Also, the Atlas-loved Surma will be playing, so there’s another reason to go.
From the organisers:
“YALA is a festival in support of the project “Bukra”, an independent documentary that reveals different forms of resistance to the Israeli occupation in the Jenin Refugee Camp, Palestine.
Surma, Labaq, Benjamin, Luis Severo, Samuel Uria are taking their music to the event, along with Hélio Morais, Elísio & Xico da Ladra DJ sets. There will also be Poetry Slam interventions and open talks with the Palestinian artist Nabil Al-Raee and Ricardo Esteves Ribeiro (Fumaça).
All profits associated with the Bukra project (now in post-production) will fully revert to support social interventions in the Jenin Refugee Camp.”
You can find tickets here. (That’s an Atlas link, FYI).
If you want to know more about the Bukra project, take a look at the FB event.
