Belgian-born Romani-French jazz guitarist, composer, and godfather of gypsy jazz Jean (aka Django) Reinhardt was, according to Wikipedia and many in Lisbon, the “first major jazz talent to emerge from Europe and remains the most significant.” May 16th will mark 58 years since Django left this world, so it’s fitting that on Friday, May 14th, Camones Cinebar and friends will be showing some respect.
Here’s what they say about the evening’s trio:
“The gypsy swing and the Parisian atmosphere from the 30s to the 50s are the greatest inspiration for these three musicians who invite you to this tribute that promises to be contagious and full of energy.”
Francisco Menezes (Tenor Sax)
Gonçalo Mendonça (Guitar)
Bartolomeu Calderón (Guitar)
