Here’s what cultural center and organizers Sirigaita say about this special Friday night:
“The truth is this: we have been dating Synik for a long time. That is, asking him, between one mini and another, when he wanted to play here at Siri. Now, with an album just released, the time has come. Synik is Gerald Mugwenhi, who left Zimbabwe in 2016 and has been living in Lisbon since then. His latest album A travel guide for the broken talks about the existence of those who have two worlds, ‘without belonging completely to either one. Songs about the experience of immigration (of which there are many!), injustice, words that escape Zimbabwe’s political censorship, but that also look to the future…’
Synik comes to Sirigaita this Friday with guitarist Bruno Vieira for a stripped-down but no less powerful presentation of the songs from his latest album. We couldn’t be happier to have them here.”
ENTRY*: 3€.
*The entrance to Sirigaita is reserved for members, annual membership is 3€, and you can join at the door!
Oh, and there’s dinner too.
Also, check out what Synik told Atlas about his musical (and overall) journey way back in 2018 here.
And here’s a taste of the new stuff.
