Nowadays, everybody’s a photographer. But that wasn’t the case 50 years ago. And, on second thought, it’s not really the case today either. Because selfie-takers don’t count.
The Portuguese Institute of Photography (IPF), however, has likely produced one or two actual lensmen and women over the years. Last year it turned half a century old. To celebrate, every day this month they are exhibiting work by current and former students and teachers who, in their words, “seek to be a testimony of each one’s contribution to the teaching of photography, along with that of the students they helped to form.”
The institute also offers a variety of courses and activities, and has a few solo exhibitions going on. Come see the big picture.
Photography (selfies included) is likely allowed.
