Opera | L’étoile at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos | Baixa | 9€ – 38€
A wild tale of subterfuge, love, and a crazed desire for a little birthday impaling. This is the story of King Ouf, Lazuli, and La Princesse Laoula as they wind their way through three thrilling acts, in a play written by Emmanuel Chabrier that premiered in Paris in 1877.
From the organizers:
“With a libretto by Eugène Leterrier and Albert Vanloo that combines the surreal with farce and poetry, this opera bouffe has gained popularity with frequent productions in many opera houses. Considered a masterpiece by Stravinsky, Chabrier’s opera is inventive, entertaining and with truly memorable themes. The musical direction is by João Paulo Santos and the staging by James Bonas, who signed L’enfant et les sortiléges in the 2017/2018 season.”
NOTE: There are evening performances April 1, 3 and 4 at 20h.
