Their last names may be hard to pronounce, but that doesn’t mean Laginha, Argüelles and Norbakken can’t play a mean jazz tune.
Mário Laginha is Portuguese and plays piano, Julian Argüelles is English and handles the sax, and Helge Norbakken is from Norway and bangs the drums. Last year they released an album; they called it “September.”
And on Sept. 29, you get a chance to hear the multinational trio live.
The organizers tell us it will be “a concert that promises powerful grooves, complex (but lyrical) melodies and a free interaction of prejudices, celebrating what is done best in contemporary European jazz.”
