ATTENTION: Museums in Lisbon, along with all other Cultural establishments, will be closed until at least the end of January 2021 due to new Covid safety measures, which you can read about here.
Santo António Day was canceled this year due to you know what. But the memory of Anthony of Padua — Lisbon local rich kid, friend of the sick and the poor, and patron saint of all things lost — is not lost on Lisbon.
From the organizers:
“During the Jubilee of 800 years of Santo António as Franciscan, several liturgical celebrations were valued in the Lisbon church of Santo António. On the day of his birth, ‘traditionally’ celebrated on August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady, the FADIST MISSA – Fados for Santo António will be celebrated. The fadistas, Célia Leiria and José Quaresma, will be accompanied by musicians Pedro Amendoeira (Portuguese guitar), Ivan Cardoso (viola de fado), and Máximo Ciuro (bass viola).”
FREE ENTRY (limited to the capacity of the church and subject to prior booking via [email protected]).
