According to the organizers of this march, MGM Lisboa, prohibiting cannabis has failed. It only helps illicit markets and has created obstacles in health intervention and research, they say, and it’s high time to decriminalize the purchase and use of cannabis, through strict regulation.

In Portugal, drugs have been decriminalized, true, but the consumer may be subject to penalties by the Drug Addiction Deterrence Committees. This march aims to change that. In order to control the quality and circulation of marijuana, the march will demonstrate to the United Nations the will of the people for full legalization.
