|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 00:00, repeating until March 18, 2020

Heads-up, people.

Lisboetas know the MAAT as one of the city’s most popular destinations for art, culture, weird architecture, history, and a nice view.

And if you have been cruising the internet recently looking for what’s on in MAAT for 2020 — then you most likely have come across a few interesting exhibits up now, and in the near future, on platforms like Facebook and even this very humble website…

However, if you live in Lisbon, then you know it’s not always easy to know exactly wtf is going on at any given point, anywhere, even when you’re physically there.

The museum has recently released the following statement:
“The recent strong gusts of wind have forced MAAT to bring forward the maintenance work scheduled for February.

The new MAAT building will be temporarily closed and will reopen on 27 March. The museum will be closed down for repair works to restore part of the roof that gave way following the extreme weather conditions and strong gusts of wind that occurred on December 19th… This interruption will also be used to expedite the works to complete MAAT’s restaurant, which is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2020.

EDP Foundation will keep the Tejo Power Station building open which, as well as its permanent exhibition, is also holding the exhibitions Economy of Means, part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, Dreamers Never Learn by Vasco Barata, and AWDIˈTƆRJU by Pedro Tudela.”

Oh, global warming…
Anyhoo – consider yourself informed.

P.S: The afore-mentioned Central Tejo Power Station is pretty cool and well worth the visit.

P.S.S.: If you happen to write a list of weekly events for a website about Lisbon — then we feel your pain.
