MUTLIMEDIA CONCERT AT THE CASTLE | A Conde de Monte Cristo | FREE

September 3, 2021 @ 21:30 - 23:00

FREE

And now for something completely different…Water, as well as the old (pre-John-Wick) world’s most well-known story of revenge, are interpreted through music and images, in two different works by local Pedro Teixeira da Silva, in a royal medieval setting, this Friday night.

Here’s how the organizers describe it:
“Inspired by the flow of rivers, the world premiere of the play Da Nascente à Foz brings us the sounds and sensations of flowing water making its way from source to mouth. The orchestration, masterfully conceived by the composer, manages to transport each moment and its dynamics to the string section in an original, yet classical, way.

The Count of Monte Cristo features an original format of sound, narrative, and image divided into 19 acts. The narrator performs an original libretto written for this musical piece which is based on Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel, with an intimacy that translates into a remarkable musical experience.

Images feature prominently in this concert. The first part is illustrated using images provided by the Portuguese Navy’s Hydrographic Institute, while the second part uses projections of specially-designed watercolors by artist João Murillo.”

Presented by Orbis Orchestra.
Works by PEDRO TEIXEIRA DA SILVA.
Narration by MIGUEL GUILHERME.
