ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT | Novais Brothers: Photos with History | ONLINE | FREE
Mário had started with portraits and later dabbled in journalism, advertising, commercial and industrial photography, and eventually founded his own studio. Horácio worked as a photo reporter for the newspaper O Século until 1931, when he, too, opened his own studio.
Over the previous century, the brothers, together and separately, captured a wide array of black and white images of everyday life in Lisbon, from schools to hotels to universities to luminous neon signs.
Biblioteca de Arte Gulbenkian em Casa invites you to view what the city looked, in simpler times, through the eyes and lenses of the Novais brothers, without leaving your house.
