PHOTO BOOK PRESENTATION | Sizigia by Pako Pimienta | Rato | FREE
“Sizigia” is the Portuguese word for “syzygy,” and syzygy in English (thanks, Google) means “a conjunction or opposition, especially of the moon with the sun” in Astronomy, and “a pair of connected or corresponding things” in general.
Pako Pimienta is a photographer. He has a new book of photographs called Sizigia.
Here’s what Corrente d’Arte, who will be presenting said book on Thursday night, say about it:
“An authentic masterpiece of twilight images, it is a necessary and inevitable journey – says the author – in the form of a photobook for an encounter with myself (…) a mutation, from perception experienced by the photographer, and therefore the person before these three powerful absences and that inevitably lead to a trip in the late evening.
Photojournalist by profession and poet by necessity, Pako Pimienta moved with his camera in a nest of shadows and absence of ghosts, past and future desires, where love, sadness, hope, and rebellion merge to embody this personal, unique, and deeply moving imagery.”
