PROTEST | Caravana pela Justiça Climática em Lisboa | FREE

April 16 @ 14:30 - 22:00

From the organizers:
“Come and welcome the Caravan for Climate Justice!

After covering 400 kilometers on foot and by train, the Caravan for Climate Justice arrives in Lisbon. The people who walked for 2 weeks with enormous effort and direct contact with the affected populations and infrastructures responsible for the climate crisis arrive in Lisbon! We will welcome them, hear what this experience was, project the future, and how we will act to fight the climate crisis.

Program of the day:
Receive the Caravan in the garden of the promenade heroes of the sea in celebration mode and take that energy to the wave garden. There we will have a circanda about ‘How We Will Stop Climate Collapse,’ where we will hear what the caravan was about through the words of those who were there.
At the end of the afternoon, we will have music, vegan food, and an assembly about the camp 1.5 (climaximo.pt/acampamento-1-5/) so you can get involved in the preparation teams of this action camp, which will take place between July 6th and 10th, in Melides.

During the caravan, lots of themes were debated, always with two focuses:
fire – associated with fires, eucalyptus, pulp companies, the abandonment that is the basis for the degradation of forests, and water – drought, river degradation, pollution from large infrastructures, the creation of numerous dams and weirs that cut the river and degrade it.

The Caravan passed through several locations and visited several polluting and greenhouse gas-emitting infrastructures. You can see the complete route of the Caravan for Climate Justice here.

Join us, listen to the sharing of the people who were in the caravan, and come build the next steps with us!”
