to Apr 18 | DIGITAL HERITAGE | International Day for Monuments and Sites (Invitation to Participate) | ONLINE | FREE
Good news, everybody!
Did you know that April 18th is IDMS 2020 (“International Day of Monuments and Sites”)? And one thing that Portugal is chock-full of is monuments and sites.
And, even though April is looking rather dim no matter where you are, Portugal wants to remind you exactly what we’re all staying inside for. Here’s how the organizers of DIMS 2020 (“Dia Internacional dos Monumentos e Sítios”) are looking to lift your spirits in the coming weeks:
“Given the contingencies caused by the COVID-19 virus, and the limitations that this situation is causing worldwide, the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC), in collaboration with ICOMOS-Portugal, launches the challenge to everyone so that, albeit in isolation and physically separated, we can celebrate the International Day of Monuments and Sites together.
The theme for 2020 is ‘Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility.’
In just a few weeks, the world has changed, but our involvement with communities and our common heritage remains unchanged. And this is really a time of sharing, of resisting through culture, union, and imagination; and Heritage is always a factor of identity, hope, and creation.
Thus, we count on your participation through the sharing of virtual visits, virtual exhibitions, presentations, films, and all kinds of initiatives that can be disseminated online. To do so, they must insert the initiatives to be developed in an online form created for this purpose no later than April 17, which can be accessed from the DIMS2020 activities exhibition page (press ‘send your activity’).
After approval, these will be made available on that platform in the coming days.
