The movements, which a short time ago were limited to an almost formality to cross continents, are no longer a certainty. These constraints on the way we lived carelessly until very recently, invite us to look around and take more time to focus on everything that is close to us. If the moment forces us to turn inward, let us learn from that moment. Hence the idea of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation was born to open its Open Air Amphitheater to a careful selection of cutting edge jazz and improvised music born in Portugal.”
