It’s no secret that banks, generally and historically speaking, are not very cool. However, here in Lisbon, near Rua Augusta’s triumphal arch, underneath the headquarters of Millennium BCP Bank lie two-and-a-half millennia of Lisbon’s history — aka Rua dos Correeiros Archeological Site, aka NARC. And you can visit it for free. And that, you have to admit, is pretty cool.

Here’s the bank’s statement about it:
“Millennium bcp understands that NARC, being a monument of local and national relevance, should be accessible to the general public. Millennium bcp Foundation is the entity responsible for NARC’s management, for the organization of guided tours, having had several initiatives to promote the site:
-Publication of a catalog, in both Portuguese and English;
-Publication of a brochure;
-Support for the publishing of PhD thesis regarding NARC and its archeological remains.”

The free guided tours take place every day (except on Sundays and National holidays) from 10h to 17h.
