Photographer Margarida Dias was born in Lisbon in 1966. She has both studied and taught photography in Portugal. She has worked with numerous magazines, advertising agencies, design, decoration, and architecture workshops over the years. She has had over 30 solo and a few group exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad. She has released a book and a few calendars.
And she still lives and works in Lisbon.
For the last two weeks in January, local art gallery Espaço Santa Catarina hosts her new solo exhibit STILL LIVE.
Here’s what they say about it:
“Two bodies and a photographer. The bodies know, of course, that the photographer is there. One meter from them. They perform for her. They offer you plastic awareness simulating spontaneity and instinct. They seduce her through a supposedly unthinking articulation between musculature and movement. The premeditation dose with which they do so will vary. But the manipulation that sustains the whole session is notorious.”
Plastic awareness simulating spontaneity and instinct with a varying premeditated dose of notorious manipulation?
Well, we’re in.
Monday to Friday, 14h – 20h.
Show up until January 31st.
