to Jun 10 | ART EXHIBIT | The Brain – wider than the sky | Praça da Espanha | 5€

March 16, 2019 @ 10:00 - 18:00

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until June 10, 2019

You don’t need to be Emily Dickinson and/or a perpetrator of the zombie apocalypse to know that the brain is pretty cool.

The Gulbenkian‘s new exhibition, Cérebro – mais vasto que o céu (“The Brain – wider than the sky”), features a 500 million-year-old brain, a modern brain, a giant interactive synapse, fragments of an Egyptian papyrus, a picture of the artist Bridget Riley, a brain orchestra, robots, interactive activities, historical and paleontological documents, three-dimensional models, infographics, and all sorts of food for thought.

The brains behind this one, in part, are Emily Dickinson (namely, her poem of the same name), and artist Greg Dunn, with his brainy project Self Reflected.

The organizers say:
“The show also intends to build the necessary bridge between us and animals – so we can understand our place in nature. It is this permanent relationship that, throughout the exhibition, allows the visitor to construct a narrative that extends from the natural and social sciences to Philosophy, Arts, and Humanities.”

In short, it’s sure to have you using your noodle, no matter your age.

16 Mar – 10 Jun, 2019.
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Closed on Tuesdays.

ENTRY: 5€.

Here’s some self-reflection for ya.
