The annual Bairro em Festa festival returns to four of Lisbon’s lesser-gentrified, more inclusive neighborhoods — aka Intendente, Anjos, Pena, and Arroios — this June, with dozens of indoor and outdoor art and photography exhibits, concerts, poetry readings, workshops, debates, and general neighborhood goodness for the whole family, local and other.
Here’s what its organizers say:
“We are and live in a contrasting, multicultural, challenging, contradictory, and diverse neighborhood, where we continue to have as a great mission to integrate ate people in social exclusion, promote intergenerationality, care for mental health, fight isolation, and claim the right of everyone to the city.
For us, Culture can Transform, Communicate, Resist, and Aggregate. It is an act of Expression-Creation that takes care of all and claims a more just and inclusive society, and for this reason, we propose a program that is also ‘Artivist’!”
