Still trying to flatten the curve by staying inside despite wanting to be free as a bird?
Dreaming of peace and a more harmonious world?
Wanna do something creative to help?
Are the kids driving you nuts?

Well, here’s what the organizers of Mil Passaros (“A Thousand Birds”) have to say:
“The ‘Mil Pássaros’ project was born as a means of drawing attention to environmental sustainability issues. An idea conceived and guided by the Companhia de Música Teatral that has been carried out in municipal cultural facilities and in public schools in Lisbon, within the scope of the Educational Program of LISBOA CAPITAL VERDE EUROPEIA 2020.

However, the events of recent times dictated many changes in our lives and now our birds have to go to other places. We keep our eyes on the environment, but we want more. We really believe that everything will be fine, but for that, we need everyone’s help.

The orizuru that we welcome in this project is, in reality, an origami that represents a bird. In traditional Japanese culture, it is said that a wish comes true when someone makes a thousand orizurus while thinking about that same wish. Over the years, orizuru has become an icon of the desire for peace and a more harmonious world.

That is the challenge that we send you!
Let’s go together and hope that everything gets better. One bird is enough. A bird made by each one of us, with the materials that we have at home and that inspire us the most. Recyclable paper, cardboard, fabric, or pieces of household waste … the choice is yours.

Let’s give free rein to the imagination and wings to our birds!
Let’s do #milbirds. Then just share this event with #milpássaros and #umdesejocomum until the 1st of June!

Get to work!
The only rule is #fiqueemcasa.”

Here’s some free help.
