Thorugh May, The National Museum of Contemporary Art presents the exhibition Coleção de Maria Eugénia and Francisco Garcia, two renowned Portuguese art collectors, which includes dozens of paintings, drawings, and engravings by (mostly) Portuguese artists from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The organizers add:
“Collecting for pleasure and friendship, this is an exhibition that evokes how much collecting is done by personal affinities. From painting to engraving, the exhibition presents works of art by Cruzeiro Seixas, Fernando Lemos, Júlio Pomar, Victor Fortes, Marcelino Vespeira, Alice Jorge, João Hogan, Eduardo Nery, among others. The catalog includes texts by the curators and also an unpublished text by art historian José-Augusto França, a personal friend of the collectors.”
