to May 9 | LITERATURE AND BOOKS FESTIVAL | Lisboa 5L | FREE-TBD
May 6 - May 9
The five “L”s in ‘Lisboa 5L’ are as follows: Língua, Literatura, Livros, Livrarias, and Leitura. In English, it’s actually two “L”s, two “B”s, and one “R” (Language, Literature, Books, Bookstores, and Reading), but those are semantics.
Lisboa 5L is basically a literary festival happening all around town, for five days in May, aiming to celebrate the five things above, and its organizers add this:
“It happens with the purpose of inscribing the city in the national and international itineraries of festivals dedicated to letters, their forms, their places, their audiences, their agents, their lovers.
The first edition of Lisboa 5L was announced for May 2020 and some of its activities took place effectively throughout that year. However, the first full edition of Lisboa 5L was postponed to 2021. It is now announced with a program that includes debates and author’s tables with an invitation addressed to national and foreign writers and specialists, from the dedicated to newcomers. There are also concerts that celebrate the relationship between music and language in different ways, a cinema cycle with the title Filmar Literatura, a performative script, and two exhibitions, one of Letters and the other of Illustrated Albums. There are also live broadcasts on Instagram and a digital map of Lisbon’s literary landscapes.”
