to Nov 29 | ART EXHIBIT | FACES Project by Elvira Carrasco | Santos | FREE
Elvira Carrasco is a 29-year-old artist and art historian originally from Spain. Her work has been exhibited all over the world, from New York to Tel Aviv.
Elvira has a thing for faces. Particularly, her own. She likes to put body paint on it, and then photograph it, thereby creating unique and diverse self-portraits.
Carrasco.art — a semi-new local art gallery opened by Pedro Carrasco, on a street that shares both his and Elvira’s name (chance or design?) — hosts Elvira’s solo show “FACES,” and adds this:
“She creates her own ritual, like our distant ancestors used to do, like some tribes still do. She works alone. Far from everyone. Distant from humankind. She prepares herself and she meditates. She is afraid. But at this precise moment, the energy comes and floods her body. Then the work flows with no more hesitations or doubts…
Elvira discovered her own way to communicate with others – using her own face as a canvas is her purpose.”
Check out Elvira’s work face to face until November 29th.
