Watch indie flicks and comic books rehashes, musicals and documentaries, cheap soft port and foreign-language masterpieces, all for just 2.50€ a pop these three days, pretty much all across Portugal. Our favorite movie theaters in Lisbon? Medeia Monumental, which is not just every film junky’s favorite place, it’s also on the same floor as the first bar in Portugal you could get a good selection of craft beer (and some genuinely horrible burgers); Cinema Ideal, because they’re indie, their selections are always spot-on, and because they’re not in a damn shopping mall; and Cinema NOS Amoreiras, because even though it’s inside one of the ugliest buildings in the world, the cinema has a VIP area where you can order a drink — a REAL drink — and take it to your seat. We’d put Cinema São Jorge on the list, but it doesn’t usually go for this sort of thing.
