Speed dating is defined by Wikipedia as “a formalized matchmaking process whose purpose is to encourage eligible singles to meet large numbers of new potential partners in a very short period of time. It was created in 1998 by Antony Beilinsohn (a Los Angeles based television executive) after his Rabbi, Yaacov Deyo, encouraged him to conceive of innovative ways for eligible jewish singles to meet and marry.”
So, basically, the Tinder of two decades ago…

Speed Dating is also the name of the new performance by Lisbon actress Raquel Castro. Here’s what its hosts, DAMAS (a locally infamous place for dating, speed or other), tell us about it:
“Do you want to love and be loved forever? Do you miss butterflies in your stomach? Are you fed up with relationships that do not work? Of hours and hours on Tinder that give nothing at all? Of waking up alone, clinging to your pillow? Do you only know people full of emotional traumas? Do you feel like you’re clinging to the past?
All this will soon be over.
Raquel Castro comes to the DAMAS to explain to you all about love and to help you find your best friend, the person with whom you will want to build a home or simply the person with whom you want to dance all night.
