Poetry is hard to define. Some people think it has to rhyme. Others feel it just has to make you feel something.
Some think that Drake is a poet, but they are wrong.
Here’s what Edgar Allen Poe, a true poet if there ever was one, says:
“I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty.”
Whatever your thoughts on the art of the poem and the spoken word may be, it’s never too late to channel said beauty within yourself.

From the organizers:
“The 5th edition of Portugal.SLAM: Poetry and Performance Festival is here.
This year, the event will be held at Chapitô, Ler Devagar Bookstore, Largo do Intendente, Largo Café-Estúdio, among others.

We will host, as always, the National Poetry Slam Final with poets from all over the country: Amadora, Aveiro, Coimbra, Lisbon, Loulé, Porto, Sintra and Viseu.

The program also includes the participation of six international guests and the winner of Portugal.SLAM 2017, Luís Perdigão:
– Beatnik (France)
– Carolina Turboli (Brazil)
– Caroline Teague (England)
– Ignacio Perini (Argentina)
– Luís Perdigão (Portugal)
– Sélénien (Switzerland)
– Silvia Penas (Spain)
as well as performances and activities open for all of you!
Stay updated here, because during this month of September we will reveal step by step our entire program.
With our words together, we make the dream possible!
In 3, 2, 1 — SLAM!”
Come see if you’re a poet and don’t know it, show the world your gift of gab, or just witness some beauty being created.

Here’s some poetry slamming courtesy of yet another legendary U.S. poet, Dave Chappelle, to inspire you.
