The 13th edition of Lisbon’s favorite movie festival takes place from September 11th to the 15th.

This year’s theme for MOTELX is Lobo Mau (“The Bad Wolf”). In the program are workshops, games, talks, and frighteningly awesome activities for the whole family. And, of course, all the horror films you could shake your zombie-killing machete at.
See the full program here.

Some of this year’s highlights (from the organizers):
Hereditary, and the premier of Midsommar, one of the most anticipated independent films of the year, with the presence of the director, Ari Aster.
-In a surprise-packed program, special sessions mark the first Friday the 13th in 13 years of MOTELX, and the 40th anniversary of Alien, shown in 4K.
-Other news includes the return of the Soska sisters, also known as Twisted Twins, with the remake of the classic Rabid (Cronenberg);
-The Norwegian apocalypse The Quake (John Andreas Andersen);
The Lodge.

This, plus an overall swarm of local and international, dependent and independent, old-school and new-comer flicks, topped with workshops, scary activities for all ages, brain-looking ice-cream, and general hair-raising fun.

*The MOTELX Warm-Up events are scheduled for September 5, 6 and 7, and will be announced next month, as will the full Festival schedule.

Tickets available in August too (price TBD but last year was scary affordable, when not free).
