to Sept 16 | FREE DANCE CLASS | “Dancing the City” by Lisboa na Rua | Lisbon | FREE

September 2, 2018 @ 18:00 - 19:00

Free

Feel like you got two left feet? Too shy to shake your money-maker? Feel like they might laugh?
Don’t worry, most people on the dance floor feel that way too.
Dance like nobody’s watching. But, if they are watching, just remember — it means you’re probably doing something right. And, if they’re laughing, they’re probably just jelly and not ready for that jelly.
Lisboa na Rua (“Lisbon on the Street”), a month-long festival of “theater, dance, music, cinema, and magic,” brings dance back to the city’s gardens, away from the usual hustle and bustle of the center, with “Dancing the City.” Lots of clumsy strangers, gathered in Lisbon’s miradouros and gardens, letting loose, with no cover fee. And, in case you’re still nervous, there will be professionals guiding you through every step.
Sounds like a nice Sunday night to us.
Here’s where and when to show up, and what to expect:

September 2, 18h.
Pala do Pavilhão de Portugal
LATIN DANCE
Salsa or merengue? Just choose and follow in the footsteps of Diana Castanhas and Angel Rojas.

September 9, 18h.
Miradouro of the Chapel of Santo Amaro
IBERIAN DANCES
Come learn or practice sevillanas and flamenco with a beuatiful view and the guidance of João Lara.

September 16, 18h.
Benfica Eucalyptus Garden
AFRICAN DANCES
For a long time, kizomba, funaná and other African dances have conquered the Portuguese dance floors. Avelino Chantre and Stella Capapelo guide you through this one.

*No registration required, and FREE!

And here’s one of the strangest videos ever made, for that song you know, by one of the best, to get you in the mood.
